Moira Anderson: Police say missing girl was not buried in grave

Forensic teams searching for the remains of missing schoolgirl Moira Anderson say she was not buried in a grave in North Lanarkshire.

They have spent two days excavating a family plot in Old Monklands Cemetery, where it had been suspected the 11-year-old's body had been hidden.

Moira disappeared almost 56 years ago and has never been traced.

Ch Insp Kenny Macleod, of Strathclyde Police, said: "No human remains, other than those already interred within the plot, have been found."
