Bonnie Prince Charlie's bank roll

The story of how the Royal Bank helped Bonnie Prince Charlie is being retold via Twitter.

John Campbell, also known as John the Bank, kept a diary chronicling events in the Jacobite invasion of Edinburgh 266 years ago.

The story is being tweeted to mark the anniversary of the event.

A portrait of John Campbell will be on display for the first time at the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh as part of a Jacobite collection on St Andrew's Day.
