Danny Alexander rejects calls for new Lib Dem leader
Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander has rejected calls from senior Lib Dem party members for Nick Clegg to stand down.
So far the party has won only one seat in the European Parliament, eight fewer than in 2009.
Speaking on the BBC's Vote 2014 programme, Lib Dem federal executive member Martin Tod said that changing leader would show the party was "listening to the electorate.
However, Mr Alexander disagreed, calling Nick Clegg a "fantastic leader".
