Margaret Hodge on BBC pay-offs to senior managers

Pay-offs to senior managers leaving the BBC have damaged its reputation, said the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.

A reports from MPs said a "dysfunctional" BBC led to executives getting larger pay-offs than they deserved.

Speaking on the Daily Politics, Margaret Hodge said it was "only the top tier who get these very, very generous pay offs", and that the "higher you were in pecking order the more you got".

And she asked herself: "Did they waste money? Yes they did", before she told presenter Jo Coburn: "It's terrible, you all get damaged."

The BBC Trust said no-one was available to take part in the programme.
