Hodge: Universal Credit IT, deadlines and money wasted
£140m has so far been wasted introducing Universal Credit, the government's plan to restructure the benefits system and save money, according to Parliament's Public Accounts Committee.
Chair Margaret Hodge said bringing in Universal Credit had been an "unmitigated disaster" but was salvageable if the DWP stopped having "ridiculous time deadlines".
She called on it to "fess up to the money wasted so far" and said it must "scrap its useless IT system and start again".
