Nigel Evans quits as deputy speaker

Conservative MP Nigel Evans has resigned as Commons Deputy Speaker, after being charged with offences including sexual assault and rape.

The eight offences date from 2002 to 2013, and relate to seven separate alleged victims.

The BBC's Arif Ansari reports that the Ribble Valley MP has denied any wrongdoing.
