Police Federation on industrial action vote figures

Police officers are "concerned, very angry and disappointed" about what the government was doing to their service, said the chair of the Police Federation after 45,000 of them voted for the right to strike.

Steve Williams said the number "sends a very clear message to the government", with a third of officers voting for them to be able to take part in industrial action,

But not enough took part to allow the body the press on and lobby the government for industrial rights.
