MP Eric Joyce apologises for bar brawl
The MP for Falkirk, Eric Joyce, has said he is lucky to have avoided being sent to prison, after admitting assaulting four people in a House of Commons bar last month.
He was given a 12 month community service order and a £3,000 fine at Westminster Magistrates Court.
Mr Joyce, who has been suspended from the Labour party, has also been banned from entering pubs and licensed premises for three months.
He has also been given a weekend curfew order.
Speaking outside the court, he said he was ashamed of what he had done.
