Winning dogs in the House of Commons contest

A five-year-old border terrier has won the latest election for the House of Commons.

But it was nothing to do with AV or first past the post as Charlie won the Westminster Dog of the Year contest where MPs show off their pooches.

He belongs to Helen Grant, Conservative MP for Maidstone and the Weald, and he beat off competition from 11 other canines including a miniature Dachshund and an enormous Newfoundland.
