US elections: Obama set to lose Congress seats and governor votes

Americans go to the polls for the first time since Barack Obama's victory in 2008 with mid-term elections for Congress and for state governor races.

Polls suggest it will be a long night for the Democrats, with the Republican Party expected to make substantial gains.
