Horsemeat prompts switch to local meat and butchers
The agriculture minister Michelle O'Neill has been telling the major supermarkets that there is no issue with the quality of meat produced in Northern Ireland.
Her comments come as the fallout over the horsemeat controversy continues along with investigations following raids in England and Wales.
In some cases as many as six different countries have been linked to individual batches of horsemeat.
The scare has had a benefit for smaller, independent butchers and firms. They say sales are up and that if you buy meat locally you know exactly what you are getting. But how can they be so sure?
