British Heart Foundation fundraiser Wendy Patterson honoured
Wendy Patterson from Northumberland decided to become a volunteer with the British Heart Foundation after undergoing a triple by-pass operation 15 years ago.
The 69-year-old has continued to help raise cash for the charity at its shop in Berwick, despite losing her son to heart disease two years ago.
She has now been honoured for her efforts by being named the charity's regional retail volunteer of the year.
As a thank you she was given the chance to meet one of the researchers trying to find a cure for heart disease.
