Hastings Council concerns over London benefit families

Hastings Council has said London authorities should stop moving benefit claimants to the Sussex coast.

The authority said it currently housed about 100 people from other councils.

It emerged 21 London councils currently dispersed people across the UK. Newham council said it had sent 23 households to the East Sussex town.

Hastings Council told BBC South East Today's social affairs correspondent Yvette Austin it made it harder to revive the town.

She talked to benefit claimant Andreia Loforte and Hastings Council leader Jeremy Birch.
