Three held in Brighton drugs raids ahead of Pride

Three men have been arrested following drugs raids at two flats in central Brighton as part of a crackdown on illegal substances in the run-up to this year's Pride event.

With tens of thousands of extra visitors to the city expected for Pride on 3 August, Sussex Police said such a large-scale event would attract drug dealers.

Pride operations director Phil Riley said the event itself did not have a particular problem with drugs.

"The fact that Brighton is Brighton and a very vibrant and diverse city attracts a significant number of people," he said.

"Pride is the biggest event the city has in its calendar and there is bound to be a small minority who take advantage of that."
