RSPB Minsmere Suffolk provides Springwatch bittern 'magic'

Springwatch, the popular BBC television wildlife series, is to conclude its tenth anniversary season of live broadcasts from Suffolk having captured a number of "firsts" for the cameras.

Based for three weeks at RSPB Minsmere, the reserve is one of the richest areas for wildlife in the UK with more than 5,600 species on site.

Presenter Chris Packham said: "Getting a camera on the bittern's nest was magic. These are a shy, skulking, rare bird... we've seen things which probably haven't been seen before."

The programme is to based at RSPB Minsmere for two more years.
