Surgery helps Barnsley miner regain voice
A man who was unable to speak properly for more than two years has got his voice back after undergoing surgery.
Retired miner James Sykes, from Barnsley, caught a virus which paralysed his vocal cords earlier this year.
The great-grandfather was reduced to tapping on his phone to communicate with his family.
Now, he is able to speak again after having an operation at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
