Welfare groups say animal rescue centres 'need tighter controls'

Animal welfare groups in Oxfordshire say tighter controls are needed on people setting up animal sanctuaries.

It follows the conviction of six people from Longworth, near Abingdon, for nearly 100 animal cruelty offences at an animal rescue home.

The RSPCA said conditions at Crunchy's Animal Rescue Centre were horrific, and warned the same could be happening elsewhere.
