Cromer Pier: £100k repairs for tidal surge damage

A pier on the Norfolk coast damaged by the biggest tidal surge in 60 years could cost about £100,000 to repair.

Decking along 20m (66ft) towards the landward end of Cromer Pier "blew up" by the force of the sea on 5 December.

A spokesman for North Norfolk District Council said it was hoped the repairs would be completed by spring 2014.

Viewer David Harper shared his footage of the storm with BBC Look East on Facebook.
