'I sold Thatcher her Barratt home'

A retired Barratt Homes salesman recalls helping Margaret Thatcher make her choice of carpet and tiles.

When she left Number 10 in 1990 Margaret Thatcher and her husband went to their £400,000 Barratt home in Dulwich, south-east London.

David Pretty, who had sold her the house four years earlier, remembers her kicking her shoes off, sitting on the floor and going through the tile and carpet choices.

Gerry Bowden, MP for Dulwich between 1983 and 1992, recalls how she scrubbed the floors before the carpets were laid.

Her neighbour Brian Green also shares his memories with BBC London reporter Sarah Harris.
