'Action needed' over Meynell's Gorse travellers site

A city council report has claimed relations between travellers and site managers in Leicester have broken down.

It said £1.4m of government money planned for the city's only official site at Meynell's Gorse would be wasted unless urgent action was taken.

Councillor Vijay Singh Riyait said the council failed to work well with the travellers and different agencies.

Former councillor Carlym Quantrill, who knows the community well, said the report's action should be implemented with the "active involvement" of the travellers.
