Southampton council bailiffs chase paid debt

A woman said she was scared to leave her own home after being chased by bailiffs for a week over a council tax debt she had already paid.

Ria Skelton, from Romsey, Hampshire settled the money she owed to Southampton City Council earlier this month after she realised her bills had been going to the wrong address.

But, despite numerous calls to the council and an admission of error on its part, it has taken them several weeks to revolve the situation and call off the bailiffs.
