Visa-error dad Jason Nish faces deportation

A father in Cumbria faces the "heartbreaking" prospect of being deported to South Africa after making a mistake when filling out his visa form.

Jason Nish has lived in Carlisle for the last 10 years, but could be split up from his partner and children with no guarantee he would be able to return to the UK.

Mr Nish incorrectly stated on his visa application he was from a country where English is the first language.

The Home Office said: "Our immigration rules clearly state individuals appealing for indefinite leave to remain who are not from an English-speaking country must provide evidence of having an approved English language qualification."
