John Hurt gives students acting opportunity

Students from Carlisle College's media studies course had a rare opportunity to direct and act alongside award-winning actor John Hurt.

The actor, recently seen in the Harry Potter films, was at the Keswick Film Festival for the second year running.

At last year's festival Hurt was involved in a question and answer session but he wanted to expand his role and create a unique experience for the students.

Course tutor Ed Cooper told Look North's Mark McAlindon that the opportunity was a "one off" for his students.

Drama student Nicola Davidson said her short scene with the actor, who has appeared in a string of classic films, including 1984, The Elephant Man and 10 Rillington Place, was a "fantastic" experience.
