MP goes to court over Birmingham's bin waste
An MP says he is seeking a court order to get Birmingham City Council to clear dumped green waste, following the introduction of a garden waste collection charge in February.
Yardley Liberal Democrat MP John Hemming has complained to the council about the waste which he said has increased since the £35 annual charge was introduced.
The council said Birmingham's refuse collectors will work overtime on Saturday to clear the rubbish.
Both the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives have pledged to scrap what they call the "garden tax" if elected next week.
The Labour-run council, however, said it had already brought in £1m of income, which would help to protect services.
BBC Midlands Today's Giles Latcham spoke to Mr Hemming and residents Palvinder Bains and James Gillies about the scheme.
