Wolverhampton Civic Hall marks 75 years of music
Wolverhampton Civic Hall is celebrating 75 years of bringing live acts to the Midlands.
The venue opened in 1938 and has hosted The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Radiohead, Blur and Robbie Williams.
Jim Duncan, the hall's event booker, said in 1952 Nat King Cole started his first UK tour there with a sell-out gig and "fell in love with England after that".
Venue manager Mark Blackstock said the hall was not immune to Wolverhampton City Council budget cuts but councillors were "incredibly supportive".
