Part-worn tyres pose risks to West Midlands drivers
Part-worn tyres are a cheaper way of keeping a car on the road, but an investigation has found some garages are selling them illegally.
There were 709 accidents in the UK last year as a result of risky tyres.
BBC Inside Out visited 10 garages across the West Midlands to see if the tyres sold to motorists are road legal.
An independent tyre safety expert also examined them to see if they were fit for the road at the MIRA motoring test centre in Warwickshire.
BBC Inside Out West Midlands is broadcast on Monday 3, December on BBC One at 19:30 GMT and nationwide on iPlayer for seven days thereafter.
