Centenary dive to submarine sunk off Eastbourne

To mark the centenary of the sinking of one of the Royal Navy's first submarines off East Sussex, divers from Kent have been examining the wreck.

The Holland V was being towed to Sheerness when she sank and lay undiscovered until 1995.

She was commissioned in 1903 and sank off Eastbourne nine years later.

Jerry Dowd discovered the wreck which is now listed as Heritage at Risk and to mark the anniversary Tunbridge Wells Sub Aqua Club carried out an inspection of the submarine.
