UK to honour Mahatma Gandhi with statue

A new statue of the Indian political leader Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated in January 1948, is to be erected outside the British Houses of Parliament in London.

The memorial will stand in Parliament Square alongside those of Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela.
