Phone hacking trial: Rebekah and Charlie Brooks statement

Rebekah Brooks has said she feels "vindicated" after being found not guilty of conspiracy to hack voicemails among other charges. Her husband, Charlie Brooks, was also acquitted in the phone-hacking trial.

"Of course the last few years have been tough for both of us and those to closest us," the former News of the World editor said.

"We've always tried to keep our troubles in perspective... I am innocent of the crimes which I was charged with and I feel vindicated by the unanimous verdicts".

Her husband said: "Absolutely everything we said two years ago has proved to be true... I would just like to say how proud I am of Rebekah and of the dignity she has shown."
