Fracking should be 'urgent priority' says Lords

A resident of Fernhurst in the South Downs has been telling the BBC his concerns about he prospect of a fracking site near his home.

Martyn Knights says the drilling would have an adverse affect on the environment.

The process of extracting shale gas by fracking has caused controversy and protests, but supporters say it could hold the answer to the UK's future energy needs.

A House of Lords committee says its development should be an urgent national priority and progress is being held back by complex rules.

John Maguire reports.
