The papers: Wednesday's front pages

Broadcaster Daisy McAndrew and Daily Mail contributing editor Ian Birrell joined the BBC News Channel to review the front pages.

They began by discussing reports in the Times and Telegraph that UKIP leader Nigel Farage is considering standing for election in the Newark by-election, which has been prompted by the resignation of ex-Conservative MP Patrick Mercer.

The pair then moved on to the Times's front-page picture showing a pupil at Corpus Christi Catholic College, in Leeds, paying her respects to fatally stabbed teacher Ann Maguire. They also discussed the Guardian's lead, which reports that prison budgets are to be further reduced.
