The papers: Thursday's front pages

Tony Grew, parliamentary editor at the Politics Home website, joined the Times's Matthew Syed to review Thursday's papers for the BBC News Channel.

They began by discussing the Times's front page which reports official figures revealing that a record number of women are at work.

The pair then moved on to the Daily Mirror's lead, which says Christian leaders are calling on the prime minister to ensure everyone in the country has enough to eat amid suggestions that changes to the benefit system are forcing people to use food banks.

They also discussed coverage of the News of the World phone-hacking trial, which heard that former prime minister Tony Blair advised the paper's one-time boss Rebekah Brooks to hold an inquiry into claims reporters used the practice, days before her arrest. She denies wrongdoing.
