UK storms: Wind and rain strikes north-west England

Blackpool Promenade has been battered by strong winds, as storms which have raged across parts of Wales and the south of England hit the north west of England.

Emergency calls soared and travel on roads and rail was disrupted.

Crewe station was evacuated for a time, after felt blown off the roof hit power cables, starting a small fire.

Judith Moritz reports from Blackpool.
