Do you care to cook to Michelin star standards?
Last night's Celebrity Masterchef contestants had to cook a meal worthy of a Michelin star in order to win the challenge, all three managed it and Ade Edmonson won in the end, but it is debatable whether they would really be capable of cooking in a Michelin star kitchen.
Chef Tom Kerridge, a judge on the programme and owner of a two Michelin starred pub, told the Today programme that he would employ the dishes in his restaurant, but not the celebrity chefs. He explained that not every chef in his restaurant is cooking Michelin star food, but "they're putting small little pieces together to create a Michelin star standard of dish."
Xanthe Clay, food writer with the Daily Telegraph, said the idea that you can go "from zero to hero in culinary terms" in one month is optimistic, adding that those kinds of dishes are "about the chef's ego" and are not really "food you want to eat".
