David Cameron defends 'small island' Britain

David Cameron has given an impassioned response to claims that a senior Russian official described Britain as "a small island", that nobody pays attention to.

Mr Putin's chief spokesman Dmitry Peskov later denied making the comments.

Speaking at a press conference after the G20 summit Mr Cameron said: "Yes we are a small island...but I would challenge anyone to find a country with a prouder history, a bigger heart or greater resilience."
