'I'm amazed that we haven't had any fatalities'

An area manager for Kent Fire and Rescue says that he is amazed that no one was killed in a series of crashes involving more than 130 vehicles on the Sheppey crossing.

The collisions took place in thick fog on the A249 on Thursday morning.

Eight people have serious injuries and dozens more are injured, but Martin Adams said that said considering the number of vehicles and motorbikes involved the situation could have been worse.
