What might have been: The Queen's WW III speech

The Today programme has been allowed to see the script drawn up by officials to be read by the Queen as part of a Whitehall war gaming exercise designed to work through potential scenarios if the Cold War ever turned hot. The Today programme heard an extract of the script.

The voice of the Queen is played by an actor.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 1 August 2013.
