Royal baby: 'UK still wants a monarchy'

The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy, Kensington Palace has announced.

The author Lady Antonia Fraser told the Today programme's Sarah Montague that the event demonstrated the need for and popularity of the institution of the Royal Family in the UK.

The broadcaster William Shawcross agreed saying that that this was "a wonderful happy moment".

"That's the point of monarchy," he added.
