Cabinet meeting interrupted by Ashes score

The prime minister has revealed how the excitement over the Ashes is gripping those who run the country.

Speaking on Test Match Special, David Cameron said that a cabinet meeting was interrupted by an official with a piece of paper, leading some present to believe it was news of the royal baby.

But the note actually contained the cricket score because, according to Mr Cameron, "Ken Clarke wanted to know what the score was...he was supposed to be at Lord's".

The prime minister also said that he was planning to bring Barack Obama to a cricket match, after the US president took him to a basketball game in Ohio.
