'Potentially the police were actually undermining them'

Prime Minister David Cameron has called for an immediate investigation into reports the police wanted to smear the family of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence.

Mark Ellison QC is already looking into allegations of police corruption in the initial investigation of the murder.

Cameron said he felt for the Lawrence family who suffered so much, "Potentially the police that were meant to be helping them were actually undermining them".
