Teacher Jeremy Forrest 'brought disgrace to his profession' - CPS
Teacher Jeremy Forrest has been found guilty of abducting a schoolgirl.
The prosecution said Forrest, 30, of Petts Wood, south-east London, had groomed the pupil at an East Sussex school where he taught.
Lewes Crown Court heard the pair went to France when it became likely their relationship would be exposed. The girl was 15 years old at the time.
Forrest chose not to give evidence in his defence. He was convicted by the jury following an eight-day trial.
Speaking after the verdict, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Ling from Sussex Police thanked the witnesses in the case.
Portia Ragnauth from the Crown Prosecution Service said that Mr Forrest "brought disgrace to his profession, who are trusted to look after children in their care."
