America's Cup boats are 'untrodden waters for sailing'

America's Cup boats, such as the one Olympic gold medallist Andrew Simpson was sailing when he died, are experimental boats that represent untrodden waters for sailing, according to the Royal Yachting Association Olympic manager Stephen Park.

Simpson, 36, was killed when the catamaran he was aboard capsized during training and he became trapped underneath.

Mr Park said that the boats were hugely powerful and brought excitement, but also a lot of unknowns.
