Cold weather: Is there hope for UK gardens?

How has this year's unseasonable weather affected flowers and plants in our gardens?

Jon Hodder, senior gardener at Sudeley Castle in the Cotswolds, told Today presenter John Humphrys about the problems the weather has been causing for gardeners across the UK.

"Spring will come around, as sure as eggs are eggs," he said.

Mr Hodder went on to emphasise that it is important to be patient. "Anyone thinking of transplanting stuff just needs to hold on... just gently wait and keep an eye on the garden."

"Hope is what we need to depend on," he added.
