HS2 ruling: 'Don't believe the spin', says campaign group

The High Court has said the government's process for compensating people affected by the HS2 high-speed rail link was "so unfair as to be unlawful."

The case was one of ten legal challenges brought to the court by groups of people living near the planned route linking London with Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.

The court ruled in favour of the government in all nine of the other cases.

Richard Houghton of HS2 Action Alliance, a collection of more than 70 campaigning groups, told the BBC's Mike Sergeant it is important ''not to believe the spin'' and said the campaign would go on.
