Helicopter crash: Police treating as 'major incident'

The Metropolitan Police says is is treating the helicopter crash in central London as a 'major incident'.

Speaking at the London Assembly, Met Police commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said: "We believe the helicopter was diverting to Battersea."

The helicopter is thought to have hit a crane on top of St George's Tower, Vauxhall, at about 08:00 GMT.
