Thousands to resit English GCSEs next month

More than 45,000 students will re-sit their English GCSEs next month, after a row about the grading of this year's exams.

The total represents around 1 in 14 of those who took the qualification earlier this year.

Many students complained that they had been downgraded, and had missed the chance of places at university or on apprenticeship schemes.

Reeta Chakrabarti reports.
