Are crowd-rousing tunes improving the Olympic Games?

The London 2012 Games have been characterised by the heavy use of crowd-rousing music and fans attending events have been debating its merits.

Does a loud burst of Chariots of Fire add to the atmosphere? Or should sport's only be soundtrack be the occasional roar from the crowd?
