When Royal Derby fever last hit UK in 1953

The Queen is beginning a long weekend of Diamond Jubilee celebrations, with a trip to the races.

She will be driven down the Epsom course in an open-top car before this afternoon's Derby.

According to her racing manager, the queen thinks about racing every single day.

The BBC's Mike Bushell has been looking back at her love of the sport, in particular the derby.
