Patten in favour of talking not grovelling

Politicians in the past have been guilty of allowing newspaper owners and editors to have too much influence, the chairman of the BBC Trust has told the Leveson Inquiry into press standards.

Lord Patten said some party leaders had "demeaned themselves" to the point of "grovelling".
