One man's search for freedom
Speaking truth to power was dangerous in all the communist states of Eastern Europe and in Nicolae Ceausescu's Romania perhaps most of all.
One man, Ion Bugan, from a small village who felt compelled to protest paid a heavy price, and so did his family. His daughter, the poet Carmen Bugan, tells the story.
